The Osgoode Hall Law School Library offers reservable Study Rooms for currently enrolled Osgoode students for individual or group studying or for attending classes remotely while in our building. 

Osgoode Hall Law School Library

  • Please read all of the following rules carefully to avoid penalties
  • Law Library Group Study Rooms are for currently enrolled Osgoode Hall Law School students only
  • Students will be charged a $10 late fee for not returning the study room key when it is due back at the circulation desk 5 minutes before the time booked in their name is up. This includes consecutive bookings made by different Osgoode students in the same group using the same room
  • Students can book 1 week in advance and only for 3 hours per student per day
  • Food is not allowed in the library (including the study rooms), nor is the moving of study room tables. The person booking the room is responsible for the behavior of all persons within the room
  • You must vacate the room at the end of your booked time and after you have returned the key at the end of your booked time. 
  • Failure to comply with any of the rules above and/or, as per section 5 of the York University Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities, Community Standards for Student Conduct on Campus, failure to comply with the reasonable requests of a University representative (i.e. Law Library Staff) will result in being banned from the room booking system for one week
  • Room bookings MUST be made through the online booking system LibCal here
  • You will receive a reservation confirmation to your Osgoode email address. You are required to confirm your booking. If you do not do so within 15 minutes of receiving that email, your booking will be cancelled
  • The person who booked the room must be the one present to sign out the key. Your booking will be cancelled and given to another Osgoode student if you are 15 minutes late for your booked time
  • Please have your Osgoode student ID and booking confirmation email ready to show to a library staff member when showing up to the library to sign out the key for the room
  • Please disregard any email courtesy notices you receive from the system reminding you of when your key is due back. The time given to you verbally by library staff at checkout is when it is due back
  • If you leave your personal belongings in your expired and unpopulated study room and another student has booked the same room, your belongings will be removed and returned to you once you return the overdue study room key to the circulation desk
  • The Osgoode Law Library is not responsible for lost or missing personal items. Please do not leave your belongings unattended when using the Law Library
  • Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Under no circumstances may children be on their own in the Osgoode Law Library

Student Wellness Suite

The Student Wellness Suite is intended as a quiet space for students to relax, meditate, and seek calm in the midst of daily stress.

  • Access to this Suite is for currently enrolled Osgoode Hall Law School students
  • Suite bookings MUST be made through the online booking system LibCal here: Student Wellness Suite
  • You will receive a reservation confirmation to your Osgoode email address. You are required to confirm your booking.
  • Please have your YU-card and booking confirmation email ready to show to a library staff member when showing up to the library to sign out the key for the suite.

Attending Remote Classes and Group Study Spaces

Helliwell Centre & Room 0014K

This space is intended for students to use for remote class participation. There are 6 private rooms available to book for 1 individual or a small group (see max. capacity) attending the same remote class. Please note that on occasion, a student's booking in the Helliwell Centre may be rescheduled to another room based on the needs of the Law School.

Small Group or Remote Learning Space

This space is intended for small student group meetings or remote class participation.

  • Reservations MUST be made through the online booking system LibCal here.
  • You can request up to 3 hours per day; booking availability is limited to the next 14 days.
  • You will receive a reservation confirmation to your Osgoode email address; you are required to confirm your booking.
  • Each person must have their room email confirmation ready when they arrive for the booking.
